living in east Durham

Durham’s heritage coastline is recognised for its headlands, beaches and rugged cliff sides.

The east Durham towns and villages were once known for their coal mining, with many collieries scattered across the area.

There are extensive cycle trails and walking routes, and several good viewing points for nature enthusiasts.
