Event aimed at downsizers

One of the largest housing associations in the north east is holding an event specifically aimed at people looking to downsize their home.

County Durham Housing Group is hosting the event in Easington to provide information on smaller properties, including flats, bungalows and houses. The event will take place at Donnini House, near Seaside Lane, which provides self-contained flats that include communal lounges, social activities and support from a dedicated housing officer.

The event takes place between noon and 5.30pm on Wednesday, 18 July. It is aimed at tackling misconceptions about the availability of social housing as well as providing information on available properties. County Durham Housing Group has properties available with rents from £57.90 a week, with no bond and no admin fees.

Advice on welfare benefits, affordable furnishings and help to move will also be available during the event.

County Durham Housing Group Head of Housing Operations, Simon Bartlett, said: “We know that a lot of people think finding a home that better suits their needs will be difficult. But that’s not necessarily the case at all.

“We’ve got a wide variety of properties and fully understand that changing lifestyles often mean that a change of home is really needed. And because we’re a housing association we can offer help and advice all the way through, to make it as easy as possible.”
